Do you want to learn to play the ukulele ?
Kerrier ukulele’s was set up for those that have taken First Access ukulele in school and want to continue to enjoy playing & singing together in a group. We take complete beginners from the age of 6 through to adults and enjoy playing together and performing locally.
We meet in Parc Eglos Primary school in Helston on Saturday mornings fortnightly, allowing you to balance your passion for music with your other commitments.
The rehearsals last an hour and a half, starting at 10:30, which allows parents plenty of time to explore the local amenities. We also have a drink and biscuit break to recharge and socialise with fellow musicians. It's a time to connect, share experiences, and forge lasting friendships with people who share your love for music.
Sara Scott - musical director
Sara grew up in Truro studying violin, clarinet & piano and was a dedicated member of her local school choir & orchestras, Truro Youth Orchestra, Cornwall Youth Orchestra and Three Spires Festival Singers. Studying her music degree in Cardiff, she performed in many choirs, orchestras, brass bands, church bands & even sung solos in an opera! She has been teaching music for over 25 years and has recently returned to Cornwall to continue her teaching career across many musical disciplines.
Sophie Orchard
Sophie grew up in Cornwall, participating in many school, local and county ensembles including CYWO. With the help of the Radford trust, the community and the music service, she was able to study Oboe at the RWCMD where she joined local ensembles and Orchestras, including various musical theatre groups. Sophie started learning Ukulele whilst on maternity leave and with Sara's enthusiasm and vast knowledge guiding her, she works with our younger members and complete beginners. You'll see Sophie and Sara popping across to Tros an Hellys to join in the fun there too as we coordinate concerts, make friends and swap snacks!
