A Year 6 class from a school in North Cornwall has been working with one of our Curriculum Music team, Georgina Bridle, this term. The class enjoyed the sessions so much they wrote a little note to say '“thank you”!
Dear Mrs Bridle,
We wanted to let you know how much we have enjoyed working with you this term. We have really enjoyed composing an original piece of music
When we first started, we practised different rhythms, clapping and tapping on our thighs. Then we got into small groups and made up our own beats and rhythms. Then we decided which notes would go with which beat.
After that, you took them away and combined everyone’s ideas into one piece of music and played it to us on the piano. In small groups we then practised the piece on tuned percussion until we could all play together in time. It has been really enjoyable and we’ve learnt a lot about composing music and then playing a shared piece together, which contains all our ideas. We would really like to do this again.
Yours Faithfully,
Year 6
