Miriam was invited to play at KCM church Falmouth as part of their Summer Concert Series in 2020. However, due to coronavirus this got postponed until summer 2021. It has been a great opportunity for Miriam to present her own concert in which she played both Violin and Piano solos as well as three duets with her friend Eva. Miriam has worked exceptionally hard throughout lockdown and took her digital grade 6 exam online and passed with Merit. After her exam Miriam has enjoyed putting together a concert programme which covered a wide range of styles including Folk, Jazz, and Classical duet pieces.
We hope you enjoy these performances of Take Five and Summertime.
This coming Monday, Cornwall Youth Orchestra are live-streaming a one hour concert from Truro Cathedral including a new work ‘The Morgowr’ written to celebrate the orchestra’s 50th Anniversary and the wonderfully colourful ‘Scheherazade’. It’s an ideal opportunity for both young musicians and also teachers to hear Cornwall Youth Orchestra in action since it’s online and doesn’t even clash with the Euros! There is a link to the free live-stream on the poster.
Calling young wind players across Cornwall! Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra will be recruiting in September and we have a really exciting opportunity for anyone considering whether they might audition.. CYWO’s annual concert at Carnclaze Caverns is usually held in the presence of a huge audience, but this year, due to ongoing restrictions, the audience size is really limited.
HOWEVER - they are giving potential CYWO recruits, and an accompanying parent, the opportunity to come along to the concert rehearsal on Sunday 18th July between 10.30am and 1pm so that you can see what’s involved in playing in this amazing group. It’s a seriously good way to get a feel for the orchestra AND to hear some great live music too.
