The south west’s vibrant flute community are to descend on Truro School for two days on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 March for the  3rd Cornwall Flute Festival.

Organised by the Cornwall Music Service Trust in partnership with Truro School’s music department, the two day event includes a variety of workshops and eight masterclass sessions. The weekend encompasses lots of exciting fluting opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

Saturday night will see headline act Ian Clarke, the UK’s top player composer perform live with accompanist Tim Carey. The concert programme will feature the following works:- Clarke - Spiral Lament , Deep Blue, Orange Dawn, Dehnhard  - Wake Up, Debussy - Girl with the Flaxen Hair, Hindemith -Sonata, Rhonda Larson - Be Still My Soul – first performance and Fauré - Fantasie

Kate Whetter, event organiser and Cornwall Music Service Trust representative, said: “To provide an opportunity for the south west’s flute community to come together and learn from world class musicians like Ian Clarke is something we are all very proud to offer here at the Cornwall Music Service Trust as we grow from strength to strength since our conception in 2014.”

She continued: “Each year we build upon the success of the previous year's event and new this year is going to be a massed flute choir performance of a special piece by Ian called ‘Walk Like This’. This will take place just before the main Saturday evening concert with players from Cornwall Junior Flutes, Flautistas! and event delegates taking part.”

The two day event is also supported by exhibitors Just Flutes, Wonderful Winds and Jessica Rance Woodwind Instrument Repairs.

For those who wish to attend the Ian Clarke evening concert in the Truro School Chapel at 7:00pm on Saturday 24 March, tickets will be available on the door and will cost £7 for adults and £3.50 for under 18s.
