Supporting Cornwall’s Young Musicians

Help Over 50 Young Performers Reach the National Festival of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall Birmingham

An Unprecedented Achievement for Cornwall

This year, Cornwall’s young musicians have achieved something truly exceptional.

Four ensembles from Cornwall have qualified for the prestigious National Festival of Music for Youth, taking place at the world-renowned Symphony Hall in Birmingham:

  • Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra

  • Cornwall Youth Brass Ensemble

  • Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestra

  • Carrick Winds

To have one ensemble qualify is a significant accomplishment. For four groups to be selected in the same year is unprecedented and represents the extraordinary talent, commitment, and dedication of young musicians across Cornwall.

Over 50 young performers will now have the opportunity to represent Cornwall on a national stage, performing alongside some of the finest youth ensembles in the country.

For many of these musicians, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Why We Need Support

While qualification is an incredible honour, the practical costs of participating are substantial.

Due to Cornwall’s geographical location, travel to Birmingham and the required overnight accommodation create significant financial pressure for families and organisers alike.

Costs include:

  • Coach transport to and from Birmingham

  • Overnight accommodation

  • Meals and subsistence

  • Instrument and equipment transport

  • Festival participation expenses

We are working hard to ensure that no young person misses this opportunity because of financial circumstances.

Your support can help make that possible.

The Impact of Music

Participation in high-level youth music ensembles develops far more than musical skill.

These experiences nurture:

  • Confidence and self-belief

  • Teamwork and discipline

  • Creativity and resilience

  • Leadership and communication skills

  • Lifelong friendships and community connection

For many young people, music provides a sense of identity, belonging, and aspiration that extends far beyond the rehearsal room.

Representing Cornwall at a national festival is not only a celebration of musical excellence, but also an investment in the next generation of confident, creative young people.
