Students receive discounted tickets!

Last year, Three Spires Singers introduced a scheme for Cornwall Music Service Trust students aimed at encouraging more young people to come and enjoy Three Spires Singers' concerts. This year Three Spires Singers would like to extend the invitation to all instrumental students.

  • Tickets are available at £3 for any student. To cover the eventuality that younger students might need to be accompanied, we offer a free ticket for an adult accompanying a group of 5 youngsters with the £3 tickets.
  • These tickets must be arranged with Penny Price, not Hall for Cornwall. If people would like to buy tickets they can email, text or call Penny, whose contact details are:

Landline: 01872 865097
Mobile: 07858 941869

The orchestra also has many instrumental teachers amongst its players so you might spot your teacher too!

Haydn’s Creation7.30 pm Saturday 1st April 2017 in Truro Cathedral

Three Spires last performed Haydn’s Creation ten years ago (following another ten years’ gap before that) and it’s high time this tuneful and optimistic work was given another airing. Do you remember the extraordinarily spooky (and musically ahead of its time) depiction of the dark emptiness of “Chaos” at the beginning? The Big Bang of light? Or the evocation of the sun rising, and the simply beautiful moment when “the softer beams” of the “silver moon…steps on through silent night”?
The Creation is so popular that it has been performed more often than all Haydn’s other choral works put together. He wanted to “cheer people up” and the work is full of optimism and confidence in an orderly world. Such is the joyous sweep of the music, it is surely possible to set any doubts about that world-view to one side for the evening!

Soloists will be Cheryl Rosevear, Soprano, Ross Scanlon, Tenor, and Timothy Nelson, Baritone. The Three Spires Orchestra will be led by Nick Whiting and the performance will as usual be conducted by Christopher Gray.

Cornwall Music Service Trust Pupil Of The Month - January Winner

Cornwall Music Service Trust Pupil Of The Month - January Winner

Cornwall Music Service Trust (CMST) is delighted to announce the winner of this month's award and more importantly the first ever award for this new initiative. The panel took time to work through the nominations in detail and felt that, although all nominees were deserving of the award, one stood out. This month’s winner demonstrated excellent commitment to their own music making, showed to be going that little bit further in terms of support to ensemble music making and support to the ensembles that they attend in more general terms, helping set up, pack down, supporting others etc.

CMST is delighted to give the award to Harry Crompton, from Penrice School and this is what his mum had to say when she found out:

“OH WOW!!!!!! ...... I'm over the moon for him (not that he knows anything about it - I'll leave that to you). What an honour to be the first!  Thank you for nominating him. He'll be so surprised.  As well as all the things you've mentioned, he never moans about practising!”

Congratulations to Harry on this amazing achievement and keep up the good work!
